Description
Betonthane UV40 Clear Concrete Sealer – 4 Litre, 10 Litre, 20 Litre.
USES
BETON THANE UV 40 may be used as a varnish, or protective glaze-coat for trafficable areas. For interior and exterior application.
Application
- All newly applied concrete is to be cured for a minimum of 14 days. Concrete is to be free from all contaminates, i.e. grease, oil, loose particles and cleaning agents. On older concrete, preprepare the concrete with diluted surfactant to degrease and wash with a high-pressure cleaner. Make sure all degreasing agent is removed and the concrete is dry before moving onto the next step.
- Acid etch concrete with hydrochloric acid (HCL). Dilution rate: I L HCL to 20L water. (Always add the water first and the acid second to avoid potential splashing of the acid.). Smoother concrete will require a higher concentration of HCL. Apply evenly over the concrete with a plastic watering bucket. Pressure wash with water immediately after (before the acid dries) with a pressure of 2500PSl
- Allow the surface to dry completely before sealing
- Only apply BetonthaneTM UV 40 if surface is dry and contaminate free.
First coat application:
- For non-porous surfaces dilute first coat of BetonthaneTM UV 40 with Urethane Coatings Thinners at a 50:50 ratio. This will provide better substrate wetting and improved bonding.
- Use a 4-8mm mohair pile nap roller for application.
Second coat application:
Apply the second coat between 8-1 8 hours after the first coat. This will depend on temperature and humidity conditions. If re-coat window has been missed the first coat will have to be abraded, loose particles removed and solvent wiped before the second coat can be applied.
Urethane Coatings Non-Skid 1 50 slip resistant additive can be added to the final coat.
Please refer to Urethane
Coatings Non-Skid 1 50 datasheet.
Cure Time
- Foot traffic after a minimum of 48 hours. Vehicular traffic after a minimum of 72 hours.
- Cure time supplied is approximate and will depend on thickness of coating and temperature and humidity conditions.
Coverage
10m2 per litre, per coat, (depending on concrete porosity). 3 coats are generally required for porous concrete.
